The Institute of genetics of Lanzhou University was established in 2006 to promote research in human population genetics and medical genetics. The focus of human population genetics research in the Institute of genetics of Lanzhou University is the integration of biological, anthropological and ecological approaches to the study of human evolution and human diversity. The aim of the institute is to act as the means by which researchers in biological and genetics, zoology, basic medical science, social anthropology, archaeology, linguistics, and evolutionary aspects of geography can formulate and develop joint research pro-grams. The institute also houses Chinese Human genetic resources platform of Lanzhou University, which is one of the major human genetic resources collections in China. All the data of the platform is available for research application for scientists around the world. The platform includes whole blood samples bank, diseases tissue samples bank, DNA samples bank and genetic resources database. There are currently 3 professors and 5 lecturers, and Dr. Xie is "new century excellent talents" winner. During the last five years, members in the institute have undertaken 21 research projects, published more than 40 papers(25 are SCI). At present, we have 15 reading master students and 10 doctoral students.
